Diana Shay’s workshop: Using your camera to tell a visual story was very enjoyable. Her warm personality and friendly demeanor were great attributes that made the participants feel more at ease and comfortable in exploring new techniques and asking questions. Diana used examples of her own work and experiences to illustrate certain approaches to telling a story through photos. It is clear that she is very passionate about her work, both as an artist and an educator. She was very professional and responsive throughout the process of coordinating this workshop. It was a pleasure working with her.

We have used Diana for family photographs as well as graduation photos. She knows the area, she gets to know you as a person/family and then appropriately picks the perfect setting for your photographs. She is patient, she has a great understanding of shading and lighting and waits for the best opportunity. Her pricing is beyond reasonable and I don't know how she does what she does with her pricing. Her work is top quality and the best that we have ever experienced.

I have served as a volunteer for two of Diana’s Desert Institute photography classes, both included shooting at multiple locations in Joshua Tree National Park and the days were jammed packed with learning, creativity and fun. As a college professor, I was wholly impressed with Diana’s ability to connect with each of her students on an individual basis. She is patient, technically skilled and fully knowledgeable of the treasures to be found in the high desert landscape. Diana is the perfect combination of artist, teacher and desert enthusiast. I’m looking forward to her next classes.

Diana Shay-Diehl has photographed my paintings so that I can put them on the internet. The site that I show my work is a print-on-demand site, so the photos need to be of the highest quality since people will be purchasing prints of them. She is able to capture the colors and textures of my paintings accurately, and I am always more than pleased with the results.

I had the honor and privilege of meeting Diana Shay Diehl as a volunteer assistant for her Desert Institute class, “ iPhone & Compact Camera Macro Photography” workshop, this past Spring 2017. Diana proved to be a gifted craft master and serious art photographer. Her attention to detail and meticulous, thorough abilities with instructing were greatly appreciated by all who attended this class. Special attention and expert help/advise were given to individual students as well addressing the entire class. She has a certain knack for crafting the eclectic and, even with a cell phone, she demonstrated one can capture great evocative art photographs with such a simple device. You will definitely develop and hone your photography skills by attending any of Diana’s photography workshops. Diana’s experience, wisdom, practiced and refined skills should never be underestimated or undervalued. She is a gem, and I look forward to attending, partaking, and volunteering for many more of her future photography classes.

Diana's method of instruction is calm yet informative. She leaves a lot of room for you to explore new techniques as well as engage and share your own. While she never hovered, she was available for questions or clarification. I especially like how she will set up a scene to shoot using the techniques you most want to practice. And what's not to love about photographing the beautiful mojave desert she lives in! I hope to participate in her fall workshops in Joshua Tree National Park through the Desert Institute.

A friend recommended Diana to me for some commercial work of some property I owned and wanted to sell. She worked quickly and utilized the best lighting time of the day. The photos were crisp and artfully done. She completed the project sooner than her projected time which made it especially nice. Her prices are very reasonable considering the amount of work that goes into shooting and prepping the images for a web upload. I would definitely use her again.
