Stepping back into the LIGHT

The rebirth of Mojave Light Studio will be launched on November 1, 2020. It goes without too much interpretation that these past 6+ months have been incredibly challenging and difficult, for me, to stay motivated to do much but breathe. However, I seem to be emerging from the darkness, having wiped the slate fairly clean, with a renewed sense of direction and purpose. Thanks to those who have stayed with me in the silence. I'm excited to share fresh perspectives of my art journey as we've all shed old skin in the process. Take great care!

Gallery 62 Joshua Tree

Once again, I'll be participating at Gallery 62 Joshua Tree's $100 and under holiday art show featuring multiple artists from the area. This year, I'll have photo encaustic works for sale in the 6x6 and 4x4 size arena.

Hwy 62 Open Studio Art Tours

This season, I'll be showing (maybe) all 3 weekends during my communities' annual art tours event with plein air painter and long-time friend, Krista Wargo. The organizers have expanded this event to 3 weekends with over 200 artists showing at over 180 locations. Historically, this art tours represented less than 50 local artists who live here full time. Now, you can own an Air BnB and consider yourself a "local" whether or not you actually live here. Regardless, I AM a long time local (since 1984) and love hosting visitors. I know the rhythms of this desert and its people inside and out. There's always something new brewing in my studio. I've made many changes to extend studio space outdoors as well. I hope you put Studio #27on your map to visit and save some time to make your own cyanotype photogram with me as well (on Sundays during art tours). It's always a fun time!  9am-5pm: OCTOBER 5-6,  OCTOBER 12-13, and possibly OCTOBER 19-20 (I"m usually at Medium Photography Festival in San Diego the 3rd weekend of October to help out and hob knob with my all-things-photography friends...)

Dog Days of Summer Group Show

In August, I'll be in the Signature Room at Gallery 62 / Joshua Tree for a group show themed: Dog Days of Summer. In this body of work, I'll present photograms and photographs and mixed media assemblage in the cool tones of cyanotype, a photographic printmaking method from the 1800s. Old World chemistry meets the modern age of creating. Opening reception is August 10 and will remain up throughout August, Fridays - Sundays.

Original artwork under $100

This sweet collective show at Gallery 62 in Joshua Tree, CA will host works $100 and waaaay under for those seeking that something extra unique and original for the holiday season. I will have small works (6x6 to 2x3!) utilizing alternative printing methods as well as hot and cold waxes - all for $85-$20. The show opens on November 30 and runs throughout December. Opening reception is Saturday, December 8 from 6-8pm.

Hwy 62 Open Studio Art Tours 2018

This will be my 5th year participating in our local Hwy 62 Open Studio Art Tours. I'm only showing the first weekend of this 2 weekend event - October 13-14, 9:00pam - 5:00pm each day.  Showing with me again is plein air painter, Krista Wargo. I enjoy this opportunity to show new mediums I'm working in. The discussions with visitors is always a joy and enlightening for both of us - it's the best part of participating in art tours! I'll have lots of smaller takeaways that make great original gifts for the upcoming holiday season. Come see what I've been experimenting with!

Collective show featuring members of the 29 Palms Artist Guild

I'll be showing a few of my encaustic photo pieces at Gallery 62 in Joshua Tree with a handful of other artists. Opening reception is July 14 from 6-8pm during the 2nd Saturday art crawl in Joshua Tree. The show runs July 2 - July 30.

Artist in Residence

I'm so excited to share that I will be spending a few glorious weeks at a studio designed just for artists in mysterious and culture luscious New Mexico, just outside of Santa Fe, at Radiant Light Art Studio. 24/7, doing nothing but allowing all these visions dancing in my head and heart to come to life on birch wood panels and fine art and hand-crafted papers.
